U12 Zug Würenlos tournament

Würenlos hosted another great tournament as the Zug under 12s came to town.

Zug arrived in Würenlos in buoyant mood and a brisk tackling session ahead of the first game certainly gave the coaches optimism for a successful day ahead.

Unfortunately, too few of the players had had their porridge before arriving. Some sleepy positional play coupled with some soft shoulders let the first game, against a combined Wurenlos & Bern side, get away from us.

The second game saw Zug playing Zurich and this local grudge match was just the pick-up the players needed. Tackles began to stick, communication improved and passes started finding teammates as we eeked out the win.

Our third game was against a strong Lugano side who we had met the previous weekend. Over the last few years, these matches have always been a good benchmark on how the team is playing and a hard-fought 2-1 win was another sign we were beginning to move through the gears.

The last match was against a combined team from Basel & Tagerwillen. By now the players were in top gear and cruised to a comfortable win. A barnstorming try from the big man, Elliot, leaving half a dozen players in his wake was probably the pick of the bunch.
