Zug Rugby Club are pleased to announce that the following U19 squad members have been invited to the U18 Switzerland Sevens squad taking part in the European Championships to be held in Magglingen, Switzerland on 15th and 16th July 2023.

We are proud to point out that these six players form part of a squad of sixteen making Zug Rugby Club the most represented club. We wish all of our players the best of luck in reaching the final squad of thirteen.

This competition is the premier Sevens event in Europe for the U18 age group, hosted by Rugby Europe and it will be attended by twelve teams including the 2022 champions, France, 2022 runners-up, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. It is the first time the Swiss team has reached the U18 championships having earned qualification by winning the lower-level Trophy competition last year. They will be taking on Ireland, Czechia and Germany in the Pool B matches on the Saturday 15th with the ranking matches held on the Sunday 16th.

To celebrate our club’s achievement, we invite you to make the short journey to Magglingen to cheer on our players, support rugby in Switzerland and improve the visibility of the club. Magglingen is near Biel and is only a 90minute car drive from Zug or a 2.5 hour journey by public transport. Please let me know if you intend to attend and on which day.
