On Sunday the U10's went to Tägerwilen for their first tournament.
A lot is new this year, some U10's moved up to the 12's with some of the coaches, some U8's came up with some of their coaches and we have some completely new faces in our team playing rugby for the first time.
The season being young and only 3 training sessions in, we did not go to Tägerwilen to win but instead to get the team playing together so they could,... well become a Team.
We entered two teams mixed with younger and older players and only had 1 or 2 subs per team. With 4 x 15min games back to back that was a big start and we could not be prouder on how our kids handled themselves.
They did exactly what we wanted from them. They supported each other when they were down and high fived each other when they did something great. They moved together and worked hard as a Team. It was fantastic to watch and every match they got better and better.
Same as last year they overcame adversity and managed to hold their own against a great zurich side, who made a lot of noise on the sideline and already played one tournament.
Unfortunately not all scores were added up so, we do not know exactly were we came, but if I calcualted correctly we came 2nd and joint 3rd out of 5 with Zurich winning the tournament. Considering that we did not set out to win the tournament, I can not express how proud we are of that achievement. The team did Zug proud and I can not wait what they will get up to this season, this was only the beginning.
See you all next Sunday in Würenlos and until then,
Hopp Zug!!!
