What amazing weeks we have had with out little U8's.
As the season is drawing to close and with only one tournament left in Tägerwilen our U8's took to the road to play in Würenlos.
With strong sides from Zurich and Morges playing we knew our little ones needed something special to come away with a win. Being aware of the opposition we fielded a 1st and 2nd Team and boy did both of them deliver.
Our 2nd Team started a bit slow from the blocks but got stuck into it and progressed and played better and better each game. The team spirit, support and progression they showed was outstanding and with most of the players being younger we are really proud on their development.
Our 1st team also got out of the blocks slower but then managed to win the first game coming from 3:0 down. They cruised through game two to set up a final against Morges who they lost to two weeks before. Again slow out the blocks they went down but dug deep and manged to turn it around and win by 3 tries and therfore wining there first tournament. I can not describe the feeling of pride we have for all the kids. What they produce with 1 training a week is remarkable and that they manage to turn that into a tournament win is increadible.
That leads us to our Home Tournament.
What a great day of Rugby infront of so many parents, family members and friends. It was an amazing athmosphere and you could sense the pride belonging to this great club.
We had some great opposition coming all the way from Geneva with Geplo and two strong Barbarian sides.
Again we fielded a 1st and 2nd Team to see if we could keep up with Geneva. Our youngsters played them first and got beaten quite heavily. Despite the upset they picked themselves up and put up a strong fight in the next game, which unfortunately they also ended up loosing. But because our kids are fighters, they gave it everything in the next match and won with a very strong performance before ending the tournament with a draw against our 1st Team.
Our 1st Team put up a fight against Geneva, played some great Rugby but unfortunately lost their playing shape which Geplo took full advantage of and we ended up loosing. The same happened in the 2nd game. I think nerves infront of so many friends and family had a little part in that. As the 2nd Team they finished with a win and draw.
What can I say, these Kids proof every week the values of the game and seeing them progress is one of the best parts for us coaches. We are very proud of them.
One more tournament to go and then the end of the season at the badi in cham, I hope to see lots of you there.
GO ZUG!!!
